Turn your students into backyard biologists! In this engaging field investigation, students will explore the outdoors to collect natural specimens like leaves, flowers, and seeds, then use a dichotomous key to classify and identify them. Along the way, they’ll learn to make observations, sort by characteristics, and record data like real scientists.

This Borrow Box includes collection tools, classification cards, hand lenses, specimen bags, and all materials needed for 24 children working in pairs. Step-by-step printed guides and video instructions make setup and facilitation simple—whether you’re on school grounds or in your own backyard.
